Referring Physicians
New England Orthopedic Surgeons is grateful for the trust demonstrated by the region’s physicians when they allow us to care for their patients. We want to provide an efficient referral experience for you and your staff, and we continuously review our processes to improve our service experience. We reserve appointment slots daily to receive patients who present with an injury or some problem that their physician feels must be evaluated within 24 to 48 hours. When you access our appointment staff, just identify yourself as calling from a physician’s office with a patient that has an injury or semi-urgent problem.
As with your practice, accurate patient demographic and insurance information is crucial. It is especially important for us to know at the time of the referral whether the patient’s condition is related to a workplace injury or auto accident. We also know that you understand that for more and more managed care plans, your referral authorization with the plan is a pre-requisite for our ability to care for the patient, and we appreciate your support in this area.
In a few situations, we need some additional information prior to scheduling an appointment, to ensure we can meet the patient's needs. Those situations are:
- Requests for a Second Opinion
- New Worker Compensation Referrals
- Transfers of Care from Another Surgeon
